1. O Father hand, that guides me so securely, O Father eye, that watches over me! O Father heart, that hears my pray’r so surely, And thinks of me in love and charity! Conduct me further on my pilgrim journey, The narrow way that leads to heav’n above; And make me worthy of that life eternal, Alike in sore distress, in peace and love.
2. O my Redeemer, who for me expired And purchased me with His own precious blood! Who pardon from all sin for me acquired, That now my heart can rest in peace with God! Deliver me from all distress and worry, And from all bondage fully make me free; In conflict with the cunning adversary, Be Thou the Hero who gives victory.
3. O Holy Spirit, who with gentle prompting Dost comfort, chasten, and impel to prayer! Who perfect peace and holy understanding, Faith, hope, and love from God to me doth share! O govern me; impress on me the likeness Of Jesus and the seal of brotherhood. O, fill my heart with peace and pray’rful silence, A holy temple of the living God.
Special thanks to the Apostolic Christians who diligently labored to keep their rich musical heritage alive when most other denominations forsook it in the challenging battle of changing cultures. Thanks be to those souls who labored to write and compose this treasure of praise, many now only known to GOD!
