1. This is my grief and my distress; My faultiness I must confess, My love should be more fervent. From day to day my want I feel That God deserves a love more real From me, His humble servant. From Thee, give me, Of Thy merit, in my spirit, Gently flowing, Love and charity bestowing.
2. In justice this shall be my plea: O Jesus, let my pleasure be To love Thee more sincerely, In love and truth to exercise All that is pleasing in Thine eyes And Thy word shows so clearly, Until Thy will Shall recall me, and rejoicing, I shall see Thee, Free from ev’ry tribulation.
