1. How blessed to approach unto the Father, Who loves unto Himself His flock to gather, To see them on their knees in rev’rence bowing With hearts o’erflowing.
2. The Lord so gladly hears their supplication And sees their tears of true humiliation. He pours upon His own, with hands caressing, His Father’s blessing.
3. To pray -- Oh, what a glorious occupation! What gifts derived from humble veneration! And unto pray’r the strength from God in heaven To us is given.
4. Then let us pray in ev’ry place and station! Have we no words to tell of our emotion? Our sighs will come before His throne of glory To tell our story.
5. And when our days on earth at last are ended, The hour of death is near, our strength expended, Then shall the Spirit through its holy mission Make intercession.
